American Vintage Dirt Racers Association Northwest

Update 5/7/2008

We know the Hangtown race is a few weeks away and, at first glance shouldn't be a conflict with our schedule but, hopefully no one uses Hangtown as an excuse to pass on Club Moto. Dave Boydstun has put a lot on line for us and Mike Sexton has gone out of his way to accomodate us at his track. We have to remember to keep our long-term goals in mind. A lot of people have spent a lot of money and countless hours to get us here so, lets not forget.

So, do what you can to make it Sunday, we know you will and thanks for your support!

Update 5/6/2008

Hangtown Classic Baby!!!

Friday, May 30, 2008

Dave Meek and the Dirt Diggers have made it possible for us to ride Hangtown the friday before the AMA Nationals!

Here's a link to the pre-entry:http://www.hangtownmx.com/live/site_flash/entry_forms.html
It's pre-entry only, one gate so get yours before they're gone!

This is for pre-1985 bikes only, no disc brakes and as far as I know, divided by skill level only so bring out your biggest gun!

Afew more things: There will be sound testing, the acceptable level for our old bikes is 101db, it may be flexible but better be safe than sorry, try and get yours tested before the race, some of the OHV parks have guns, I believe Hollister has one. Also, sisnce this is a closed course, no green/red stickers needed.

Thanks to Dave Meek!

Also, this can be an annual thing so lets get out and support it! Let's show our appreciation to Dave and all the Dirt Diggers for their hard work!

I know I speak for everyone when I say a very big Thank You for your efforts!

Update 5/3/2008

All Nationals have now been revised as one day events (Sunday). Worked great at Taft.

See you at Club Moto in Livermore 5/11/2008!

Update 4/28/2008

28 Photos from the Honolulu Hills race posted. Thanks to Todd Kohlmeister and George Marshall!

Update 4/14/2008

We have some photos of the Dixon race. All courtesy of Todd "Kickshaft" Kohlmeister! Just click on the "Photo Gallery" button to the right.

Dixon was a good day of racing. A little hot but, get used to it I guess it's that time of year. Track gets a little rough and rutty but we're not complaining! We had a new guy, Rick Hayes, it was his first race (ever), great job Rick, thanks for coming out and hope to see you at Taft. Another new guy, David Meeks was very fast, not sure if he's raced with us before but anyway thanks to David for coming out and giving the experts hell!

We had four motos, just enough rest between, not so much that we got bored so, it was a good day!

Update 4/8/2008

Just a few adjustments to the Taft  "Dash for Cash" race. You must be entered in at least one other race that day to be eligible for the DFC race. Also, no temporary members, (you can be a temporary member for the other races that day, just not the DFC) and last, only GPIII bikes and older.

Don't forget, Dixon April 13th!

Update 3/27/2008

Couple things...

First, the "Dash for Cash" has now been increased to $300.00 thanks to Dave Boydstun. It may go even higher, we'll keep you posted. Also, Dave would like to pay down three positions. Someone's going home with gas money!

Also, the format for the Honolulu Hills race has been changed. In response to the members economic concerns and in an effort to increase entries and help keep track costs down, the schedule will be as follows: Saturday, 4/26, open practice - Sunday, 4/27, Vintage and GP Racing. That's right, Vintage and GP on the same day! This gives those of us with limited time due to work, family etc. a chance to make a National race. As well, we'll be able to ride the track on Saturday. Practice on Saturday will also help determine starting positions for Sunday's dash for gas money! There just might be a guy or two out there with a stop watch. So, it's still two days of riding, but if you couldn't make Saturdays race, now you can, it'll just be on Sunday!

If you guys have any questions feel free to call Ric Tipton @ 530-632-2285 or Guy Coulston @ 408-569-0772

Update 3/26/2008

Dash For Cash!

At the next two Nationals, 4/26,27,28/2008 and 5/10,11/2008 at Honolulu Hills and Club Moto respectively, we will be holding a "Dash for Cash".

This is an expert only race and it will be the last race of the day, most likely 4 laps. It'll feature a $200.00 pot with a $10.00 buy-in.

It will also be a handicap race, with probably 3 starting positions. Guys like Dave Coupe starting from the start gate, further up the track will be mostly guys that hold blue plates and further up from there newer experts. It's an obvious effort to make it fair for everyone. Where you start on the track will be determined on race day, ie; the distance between the 3 "gates".

Who will be starting at the different gates to be determined as well.

There are no pre-entry requirements for this race.

As always safety is paramount so, there will be 3 referees to keep an eye on things

Update 3/24/2008

We now have a new regional series sponsor: Quickway Tool Company maker of the SUPER SQUARE(tm).

This is George Marshall's company and we want to thank him for his support!

Click on the "sponsors" tab on the right for more info and a link to his website

I can vouch for the product personally. It's great for the building professional or the rookie weekend carpenter.

I know, I used one when I built my deck. They come in many colors too. So they're
"Easy to use, hard to lose"! Check it out!

Thanks again George!

Update 2/13/2008

Photos from the 2008 Speedworld event on the "images" page to the right. If you see your photo with no caption, it's because I couldn't id you. Just send me an email with your rider number and I'll make the change.

Here's a link to the results: Results Speedworld 2008

You can now enter National races online and pay by credit card! Here's the link to the entry forms, entry form

Here's the instructions from Nancy: Complete the form and send via email. If you are paying by check, she must receive the check no later than January 28, 2008. So, if you enter online and pay by credit card (also online), you're done. If you enter online and mail a check, remember, you're not oficially entered until she receives your check. The entry forms should have a place to indicate how you are paying, if not, shoot her and email if you are paying by check just to give her a heads - up.

We now have a new category indicated by the button on the right: "Businesses we support". Some of you guys have businesses and we would like to help you promote them. We think it's a good idea to try and "keep it in the family" so to speak. It doesn't matter whether it's motorcycle related or not, as a matter of fact, the only criteria is that it's legal, (or you'll get to be one of Steve Parker's customers). So, let me know if you have something to promote, company, service, product etc. Check out the first, GP Racing, owned and operated by Steve Gibson!

2008 will be a year of change in the Northwest!

This site is honored to now be affiliated with the American Vintage Dirt Racers Association. AVDRA has been in existence since 1990 and under the leadership of founder Dave Boydstun, the club has flourished, holding races primarily in the Phoenix AZ area. From the AVDRA website: "Our race director David Boydstun is former National Off-road Director of AHRMA, known as the "World Leader" in running vintage cycle events. Dave has traveled the complete AHRMA National Off-road series for many years as a competitor, and three years working for AHRMA setting up and running the Off-road National Series. This is a lot of experience, and week in and week out he can be counted on."

This is an exciting time for us as, most of you know, post-vintage, at least in California under AHRMA was all but dead. Our AHRMA post-vintage race coordinator, Ric Tipton has stepped down in order to become coordinator of the Northern California region of AVDRA.

Our new affiliation will enable us to experience many of the things we have wanted for years but were not able to attain: Vintage and Post Vintage (or the GP class as it will now be known) will co-exist, just the way it should. As well, we'll have the opportunity to have a modern support class and kids class if there is demand for them. Ric is currently working with the Sierra Old-Timers and the Over the Hill Gang to work out a schedule that will enable us to race with them instead of the side-show status we have had to endure with the other club.

Feel free to contact Ric or myself with questions, concerns etc. Our contact info is at right.

The website for AVDRA is: www.avdra.com Go here for more club info, application forms etc.

This site is dedicated to and for the benefit of, our sponsors, who make it possible for us to go out and play in the dirt!

For the tireless volunteers who give countless hours of their time, energy and sometimes even, their money, scheduling, scoring, flagging, teching, cooking, listening and never complaining! Well...maybe just a little, but they deserve it.

For the racers, who drive long hours, pay inflated gas prices, brave heat, cold, rain, even snow and always manage a smile!
